THE STORY BEHIND GARY'S LOGO
When Gary began his career in the planetary science of astrology in 1982, he wanted a logo that has (1) symbolic astrological meanings, (2) represents him personally, and (3) is emblematic of wholeness and oneness.  He was fortunate to find a graphic artist named Bonnie who could render the idea he had into an art form.  He originally asked her to draw two fish - one jumping out of the water and one swimming below the surface.  The sign of Pisces is represented by two fish swimming in different directions and Gary's chart has Sun and two other personal planets in that sign.  Unlike the depiction of the two fish of Pisces in the heavens, Gary wanted the bodies of the fish in his logo to be arched and facing each other's tail so that their backs would form a circle.  The circle represents wholeness, oneness, cycles (astrology is the study of planetary cycles), and the modern, circular astrological chart itself.  Gary wanted the surface of the water to be represented as two parallel, wavy lines to symbolize Aquarius rising in his birth chart.

When Bonnie showed Gary her original drawing, the two fish did not form a circle.  Gary repeated his request that the backs of the two fish form a perfect circle with one another.  Bonnie asked Gary if he had any drawing or photo of a fish with an arched back and Gary gave her a book with a photo of an orca with its back arched jumping out of the water.  Bonnie misinterpreted what Gary wanted and drew two orcas with a pair of wavy lines between them, as shown in his logo above.  At first, Gary was not happy because orcas are not fish but they did form a circle and the more he thought about it, the more the orcas fit the objectives of his new career.  With brains more convoluted than human beings, they are as intelligent as us, perhaps moreso, and are at the top of the evolutionary chain of sea mammals.  Like humans on land, they are among the most highly evolved creatures in their element (water).  Thus, they symbolize the highly evolved, and Gary is interested in helping his clients and associates become more spiritually evolved.
