The solar return chart is a predictive tool used to assess areas of emphasis, challenges, and opportunities in your life during the year from one birthday to the next.  This chart is calculated for the moment the Earth returns to the same position in its orbit (relative to the equinoxes) that it occupied when you were born.  When someone learns that it's your birthday and they respond with "many happy returns," this phrase refers your solar return.  An accurate time of birth from a documented source is required to calculate a solar return chart.  If you cannot find such a source for your time of birth, see the article "How to Find Your Birth Time."  The solar return chart is examined in the context of ongoing and upcoming influences (called transits) in your birth chart.
